When I started putting together my son's dresser I never thought about the need to shop for "safe clothes" I guess I assumed clothes were already safe. The only thing I thought about were my pet peeves; most of the baby boy clothes are dinosaur, construction or dogs and so many of them have zippers (who ever thought it was a good idea to make clothes for teething babys with zippers - ugh!) I also extremely dislike that some of the popular brands like Carters, put ears on the tops of their hoods!

I just wanted amazing solid colors without any dog ears or zippers that could catch and hurt my little ones teeth and would fit my baby and wear well.

So I started searching and questioning other moms and someone mentioned Primary clothes. I immediately Googled it and the colors are initially what caught my attention, all solids or stripes and so vibrant and many to choose from! I immediately put some onesies and pants in my cart and saw they are made from 100% combed cotton rib, OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certified fabric.

Immediately, I clicked on the link that said "what is OEKO-Tex" since that was my exact question. This is what OEKO-Tex is per Primary's website:

"OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified means that our fabrics have been tested and are free of over 300 chemicals and known irritants. It's a higher standard that is better for skin, better for the environment, and better for parents' peace of mind."

Ironically enough, I had just watched a show on Netflix called "Stink!" (if you haven't seent it yet, I highly recommend it - extremely eye opening) and it's basically about so many chemicals in the clothes being made and the affect they can have on us. I won't go into detail on it, but as soon as I saw Primarys description of OEKO-Tex, I knew that was all I would be putting on my sons skin.

My son has been wearing Primary clothes for the past four months and they have held up so well! No shrinking, loose threads, fading, etc. I am also extremely impressed with how easy they are to clean, not a single item has a stain on it!

With summer around the corner I just placed another order for more tops and bottoms as well as two swimsuits, they are UPF 50 and absolutely adorable!

If you'd like to give Primary a try, you won't be disappointed but they do offer peace of mind with a great return policy. Plus if you use the link below, you can save 20% off your order!
